Assalamu Alaikum!
What is the legal status of your fatwa on divorce? I am currently in the United States, and I have sent a letter to my wife — who is in Pakistan — in which I wrote the word "ṭalaq" (divorce) three times. We have no children. Now, I would like to use a fatwa as legal proof in a Pakistani court, and I wish to get remarried.
Obtaining a fatwa on any matter is considered a legitimate and authoritative ruling from the perspective of Islamic law. In Pakistan’s current judicial system as well, a fatwa holds recognized legal value, and in many cases, it is even required during court proceedings, and decisions are often made in accordance with it. Therefore, if the questioner needs to determine the Shariʿah ruling regarding personal or family matters, he may present each issue separately and in detail, in order to receive an appropriate Islamic ruling and fatwa.
