Is it permissible to read poems in Mosques?

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmathullahi Wa Barakathuhu!
Mufti Sahib! In different mosques of our country, it is being noticed that poems are read in different languages such as Arabic, Urdu, etc., although there is a hadith mentioned in the books of Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i and Ibn Majah etc. that beloved Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam has forbidden from reading poems in mosques? Now my question is, could poems be read in mosques? If it is permissible, then, what is the correct interpretation of this hadith? Please reply.

Let it be cleared that reciting obscene and immoral poems in the mosque is unlawful and a grave sin and the Hadith mentioned herein is with regard to such poems. As for poems, which contains eulogy of Allah and the admiration of the beloved Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam and other educative and appropriate matters, it is permissible to read them in the mosque and there is nothing wrong in it according to Sharia. It is proven that Hazrat Hassan bin Thabit (Radhiyallahu Anhu) has recited poems in the Prophet's Mosque, as mentioned in Bukhari Sharif. However, in case of holding such gatherings in the mosque, it will be necessary to take full care of the etiquette of the mosque.
