We started playing the recitation of Surah Rahman on the audio system in our hospital. People have started objecting to this, saying that it is wrong, that we should not play it, and that it is Bay-Hurmati (i.e. a form of irreverence and disrespect to the Holy Quran). Please advise.
It is indeed a form of irreverence and disrespect to the holy Quran to play its recitation in such a place where people are preoccupied with their work, where no one would pay attention to its recitation. One may be sinful for doing such. For this reason, the questioner should avoid playing any recording of the Quran on the hospital’s audio system.
And Allah knows best.
