Placing one's foon on the picture/image of a religious personality

What is the ruling on pictures? Can one place his foot on the image of a religious personality, such as the close servants of Allah, a companion of the Holy Prophet, or the Holy Prophet himself? Someone has said that one can place his foot on images as a form of disgrace to it, regardless of whether or not it is an image of a close servant of Allah or a prophet. Please inform us of what the Shari’ah says about this issue.

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

Making images of living things is not permissible as per Shari’ah, therefore, making hypothetical images of prophets or close servants of Allah would be considered an act of irreverence to these personalities, and something Haram and unlawful to a much higher degree.
One must totally refrain from doing such. However, any act of disgrace to an image of someone is considered an act of disgrace to the person themselves. For this reason, one should dispose of the images of any prophet or close servant of Allah, and refrain from any act of disgrace or irreverence to such images.

مأخَذُ الفَتوی

کما فی صحیح البخاری: عن ابن عباسؓ ان رسول اللہﷺ لما قدم إبی ان یدخل البیت وفیہ الالہۃ فامر بہا فأخرجت فأخرجوا صورۃ ابراہیم واسمٰعیل علیہما السلام فی ادیہما الازلام فقال رسول اللہﷺ قاتلہم اللہ اما واللہ قد علموا انہا لم یستقسما بہا قط فدخل البیت فکبّر فی نواحیہ ولم یصلّ فیہ اھ
وفی حاشیتہ: قال النووی سبب ترک دخولہ ماکان فیہ من الاصنام والصور ولم یکن المشرکون یترکونہ لیغیرہا فلما کان الفتح امر بازالۃ الصور ثم دخلہا وروی فی مسندہ عن جابرؓ قال کان فی العکبۃ صور فامر النبیﷺ عمر بن الخطابؓ این یمحوہا فبل عمرؓ ثوبًا فمحاھا بہٖ فدخلہا النبیﷺ وما فیہا شیء اھ (ج:۱ ص: ۲۱۸) واللہ اعلم
