I want to know whether I have to pay Mahr or no?

Assalamu Alaikum

My Nikah took place one year back and Rukhsati has not occurred yet. Now for certain reasons Talaq is to be taken place. I want to know whether I have to pay Mahr (مہر) or no?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

In the event of Talaq being taken place before the Rukhsati, it is obligatory upon husband to pay half of the Mahr on condition that husband and wife have not met in solitude where nothing could prevent them from engaging in intercourse. In the contrary, it will be obligatory to pay the complete amount of Mahr.
