We all brothers live in the same house and share food, and I (the questioner) am eligible to receive Zakat. My elder brother gave me Zakat—will his Zakat be considered fulfilled or not?
f the questioner does not possess 7.5 tolas of gold, 52.5 tolas of silver, or cash, trade goods, or surplus belongings equal to their value, and he is not a Sayyid, then in such a case it is Islamically permissible and valid for his brother to give him Zakat, and the Zakat of the giver will undoubtedly be considered fulfilled.
کما في الفتاوى الهندية:فهي تمليك المال من فقير مسلم غير هاشمي، ولا مولاه بشرط قطع المنفعة عن المملك من كل وجه لله - تعالى -(1/ 170)۔
وفی الدر المختار: أي مصرف الزكاة (الی قولہ) (هو فقير، وهو من له أدنى شيء) أي دون نصاب أو قدر نصاب غير نام مستغرق في الحاجة الخ (باب المصرف،ج 2، ص 339، ط: سعید)۔
