to delay the remaining of his zakat

My question is: last year I paid some of my Zakat (obligatory charity) and some of it still remains. Do I have to pay it immediately? Or, can I pay it the following year?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

It is not proper for the questioner to delay the remaining of his zakat that has to be paid until the next year. Rather, he should pay it as soon as possible.
