Is Zakath not valid if given as rations and clothings etc.?

What do the learned Muftis say about the following ?

A person says that Zakat can only be given in the form of money, it is not correct to give Zakat in the form of goods such as ration, clothes, etc. Please guide me in this regard.

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

Everyone agrees that paying Zakat in the form of cash is preferable and better, so that the poor and needy can use it according to their needs and requirements. However, if a person pays his Zakat in the form of goods, such as rations, clothes, etc., then giving these items as Zakat is also permissible and correct according to Sharia, and the Zakat of those who give these items will undoubtedly be considered to be executed Zakath, correctly. Therefore, attributing the validity and correctness of paying Zakat only to giving cash is based on ignorance of Sharia issues.

مأخَذُ الفَتوی

کما فی المبسوط للسرخسی : وكان الفقيه أبو جعفر - رحمه الله تعالى - يقول: ‌أداء ‌القيمة أفضل؛ لأنه أقرب إلى منفعة الفقير فإنه يشتري به للحال ما يحتاج إليه اھ ( 3/107)
کما فی الدر المختار: فلو أطعم يتيما ناويا الزكاة لا يجزيه إلا إذا دفع إليه المطعوم كما لو كساه بشرط أن يعقل القبض اھ (2/257)
وفی رد المحتار تحت: (قوله: إلا إذا دفع إليه المطعوم) لأنه بالدفع إليه بنية الزكاة يملكه فيصير آكلا من ملكه، بخلاف ما إذا أطعمه معه، ولا يخفى أنه يشترط كونه فقيرا، ولا حاجة إلى اشتراط فقر أبيه أيضا لأن الكلام في اليتيم ولا أبا له فافهم (قوله كما لو كساه) أي كما يجزئه لو كساه ح اھ (2/257) واللہ اعلم بالصواب
