Begging inside of the masjid

What is the ruling on begging within the boundaries of the masjid? Is it true that both the one who begs inside of the masjid and the one who gives him money will be sinful, and that the sin for giving the one who begs in the masjid is 70 times more?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

It is Haram to beg inside of the masjid, and Makrooh Tahreemi to give to one doing such. However, some scholars have written that if the one begging is truly in need and is not a nuisance to the people in the masjid, then it would be permissible to give him.

مأخَذُ الفَتوی

کما فی الدر المختار: ویحرم فیہ السؤال ویکرہ الإعطاء مطلقا۔ الخ (ج۱، ص۴۰۹)
وفی رد المحتار: تحت (قولہ وقیل إن تخطی) (إلی قولہ) یکرہ اعطاء سائل المسجد الا اذا لم یتخط رقاب الناس فی المختار لأن علیا تصدق بخاتمہ فی الصلوٰۃ فمدحہ اللہ تعالیٰ بقولہ (ویؤتون الزکاۃ وہم راکعون) الخ (ج۱، ص۴۰۹) واللہ اعلم
