What is the standpoint of the scholars of Islam regarding the following issue?
Someone in Saudi Arabia offered me a job. If I go there, I will have to spend about a month fulfilling legal requirements before I start working. Will he have to give me my salary for that month? He is saying that he will only pay me when I start working. However, I am not the one who wanted to go to Saudi Arabia. In fact, he is the one who presented this offer to me. Please inform me of the ruling for this scenario according to the teachings of the Shari’ah.
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
If there was no prior agreement regarding this between the questioner and his employer, then the questioner will only be entitled to a salary after he starts working. However, if the employer decides to give the questioner an allowance, then that is up to him.
Am I entitled to my salary during the time it takes to fulfil legal documents before I begin working?
