The ruling on fasting and prayer while using medication to stop menstruation.

Assalamu Alaikum
After my second child, my menstrual cycle became irregular, due to which I am taking medication. It is a 21-day course of medicine to stop menstruation, which I have to start again from the second day of my period. In this situation, what is the ruling regarding prayer and fasting?”

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

If the questioner is using medication to stop menstruation due to irregular periods, then as long as her menstruation remains stopped, she will be considered pure (in a state of ritual purity). Therefore, during these days of purity, it is permissible and in fact obligatory for her to perform prayers and observe fasting.

وفی رد المحتار تحت (قوله بخلاف الحائض ) وهذا إذا منعته بعد نزوله إلى الفرج الخارج كما أفاده البركوي، لما مر أنه لا يثبت الحيض ‌إلا ‌بالبروز لا بالإحساس به خلافا لمحمد، فلو أحست به فوضعت الكرسف في الفرج الداخل ومنعته من الخروج فهي طاهرة كما لو حبس المني في القصبة الخ( باب الحیض، ج: 1، ص: 308، ط: سعید )
وفی بدائع الصنائع: منھا الطھارۃ عن الحیض، والنفاس فانھا شرط صحة الاداء باجماع الصحابة رضی اللہ عنه الخ ( فصل شرائط انواع الصوم، ج: 2، ص: 83، ط: دار الکتب العلمیة )
وفی موسوعة الفقھیة الکویتیة: وقد صرح الحنفیة بانه اذا شربت المراۃ دواء فنزل الدم فی ایام الحیض بانه حیضا الخ ( انزال و رفع الحیض بالدواء، ج: 18، ص: 372، دار السلاسل)
