How is it to name “Tawheed”?
Assalamu Alaikum, Mufti Sahib! My question is that my family has named me Tawheed. Is it permissible to keep the name Tawheed? Now that my family has already given me this name, and all my official documents also carry this name, and I am well known by it, what is the ruling in such a situation? Some scholars have advised me to seek Shariʿah guidance regarding my name, because “Tawheed” is an attribute related exclusively to Allah. If there is any scope for using this name, please clarify it, and if there is no permissibility, then please inform me as well, so that I may change my name accordingly.
الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً
Keeping the name “Tawheed” is permissible; therefore, the questioner does not need to worry without any valid reason.
