Criterion of Khilafath in the Sacred Shari’a

Mufthi Sahib I like to know the reality of the Incident of Qirthas. When Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked for pen why did Hadhrath Umar Radhiyallahu Tha'ala Anhu refused to give the pen? Hadhrath Umar Radhiyallahu Anhu did not listen to Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and that too during the last stage of His life. What disobedience can be above this? 2.Hadhrath Umar radhiyallhu Anhu and Hadhrath Abu Bakr radhiyallahu Anhu were made Khalifas in the presence of Hadhrath Ali Radhiyallahu Anhu who was His relative too and was so closed to Him?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

1.During his last ailment , on a Thursday four days before his demise Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam told to his companions “Bring a piece of paper. I would write down a document after which you would never go astray.” Hadhrath Umar Radhiyallahu Anhu said that since Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam is suffering more due to his illness now, he should not be troubled and for essential matters Book of Allah is sufficient . And some others whose names are unknown were of the opinion that it should be written. Meanwhile, few others whose names are not mentioned in any narration said “What? Has the time of his bereavement approached, ask him?” However Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam did not give a final order to get it written at that time nor did he make any mention of it later whereas he lived for four more days after this. By this incident finding arrogance/disobedience from the part of Hadhrath Umar Radhiyallahu Anhu and finding fault with him is the practice of Rawafidhis and it is mandatory to refrain from doing so. 2.Criterion of Khilafath in the Sacred Shari’a is not kinsmanship/relationship but there are various other qualities in which, according to the consensus (Ijmah) of the Ummah these respected personnel were ahead. Therefore Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alihi wa Sallam himself made them at the forefront and Hadhrath Ali Radhiyallahu Anhu acknowledged it.
