Is it permissible in Islam to work in a factory that manufactures garments which are not appropriate according to Islamic rulings, like tight pants, shorts, skirts etc. for women? The factory also manufactures jeans for men which are permissible to use. Also, these products are supplied to foreign countries where it is sure that such clothes will be use by women in the public, not only in front of their husbands. I work as a merchandiser and I am involved in the whole process of manufacturing until the fabric is stitched. Kindly guide me as to whether my income is Halal or not.
The job in the clothes factory, as described in the question, is permissible, and its income is lawful. However, having any lawful job will only be permissible for women providing that the laws of Hijab are observed in the work place, and she is safe while going and returning from work. Only then will it be permissible for a woman to have a job, otherwise, it would be unlawful.
And Allah knows best.
