Muhtharam Janab Mufthi Sahib,
What I wish to ask is that, if committing suicide is Haram, then is it possible or not, that the one who commits suicide be forgiven after death? Will the Sawab of the Aamals done on his behalf (Eesal e Sawab) reaches him or no?
And whatever the Sadaqa e Jaria he would have done reaches him or no?
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Committing suicide is indeed a very grave sin and a Haram act according to the Shari'ah. Severe punishments for the one who has committed suicide has been narrated in Ahadith. Despite this, if he is a Muslim, then it is hoped that Allah will forgive him after he will have suffered punishment for a very lengthy period of time. Nonetheless, his own Sadaqa-e-Jari’a and Isal-e-Sawab made on behalf of him too will indeed reach him.
Allah knows best.
