Using gold or silver tooth caps

Is it permissible to use tooth caps?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

If there is a need, then it will be permissible to use a silver tooth cap. However, the scholars differ regarding the usage of tooth caps made of gold. For this reason, unless there is a severe need, it will not be permissible to use gold tooth caps. This must be avoided.
