I have a female teacher who I have been learning from since I was five years old. Since that time, I have been calling her “Aapi”. She is also significantly older than me. May Allah forbid that I start getting inappropriate thoughts about her. She always observes Hijab in my presence. Is our relation with each other sinful? Is it permissible if I even call her “sister”?
Even though this woman may be the questioner’s teacher, however, she is not his Mahram. Therefore, unnecessary conversations, acting freely and being secluded with her is not permissible, and must be avoided. However, if there is a need, it will be permissible to speak with her while she observes the Hijab.
And Allah knows best.
