Can we put of flags on the 14th of August?

Can we put of flags on the 14th of August? Muslims achieved their own country and achieved independence on that day? Will one be rewarded for putting up flags on that day?

الجوابُ حامِدا ًو مُصلیِّا ً

Although putting up flags on the 14th of August to express love for one’s homeland is a permissible action, there is no reward for this action established in the Shari’ah. Hence, one shouldn’t hope for rewards for doing this.

ففی مجمع الزوائد: عن ابن عباسؓ قال: لواء رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم یوم بدر مع علی ابن أبی طالب، ولواء الأنصار مع سعد ابن عبادۃ رضی اللہ عنہما‘‘۔ ( ۶/ ۲۹) واللہ اعلم باالصواب
